Barcelona Left-back forced off in 75th minute
Barcelona have confirmed that Jordi Alba suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla at the Camp Nou.
The left-back was replaced by debutant Sergino Dest in the 75th minute after picking up a problem off the ball.
“Jordi Alba has discomfort in his right hamstring,” Barcelona wrote on social media.
“He will undergo further testing on Monday to determine the exact extent of the discomfort.”
The 31-year-old, who was not called up by Spain for international duty this month, will be able to recover over the next couple of weeks before club football resumes.
Alba has kept his place at left-back under Ronald Koeman at the start of this season, starting in each of Barcelona’s first three league games.
Dest, who came on for Alba in what was an unfamiliar role for him, mentioned that playing on the opposite flank to his usual right-back spot was not a problem for him.
“I don’t care about the change of side,” he said after the game.
“If the coach needs me on the left side, there’s no problem.”
