Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back against those who have criticised Andy Ruiz over his physique.

On June 1, 2019, Ruiz defeated Anthony Joshua and became triple world heavyweight champion (WBA, IBF and WBO), as well as the first Mexican top heavyweight champion.

“Joshua is one of the best, but Ruiz is good,” Ronaldo said in the documentary Parallel Worlds on DAZN.

“That’s what I was talking about with my friends, because they made fun of him and told me to look at Ruiz’s fat body.

“I told them, ‘Listen, the body doesn’t matter. What matters is the preparation’.”

Months after the aforementioned fight, Ruiz lost his world titles to Joshua. That was the Mexican’s latest fight and he is expected to return to action in 2021.
