Drug trafficker with alias 'Messi' had ties to young footballers in Colombia

It’s been revealed that drug trafficker Jhon Fredy Zapata Garzon was using his fortune to get into the football agency business in Colombia.

Zapata Garzon, who has the alias ‘Messi’ in the crime world, was arrested recently for alleged drug trafficking and money laundering.

According to El Espectador, Zapata Garzon was acting as an agent for young footballers in Colombia and was planning to open a youth academy in the Uraba Antioquia region.

‘Messi’ was gaining a good reputation in Colombia for offering economic support to young footballers, with their parents not knowing who he really was.

According Fernando Murillo of the Colombian Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol (DIJIN), the criminal was heavily involved in the second division of professional football in the country.
