Haaland wins the 2020 Golden Boy award

Yet another award has been won by Erling Haaland, with 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker having been crowned the winner of the 2020 Golden Boy prize. This award is given out every year by Italian newspaper Tuttosport to the best player under the age of 21 and was won by Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix last year.

With 33 goals in 34 matches so far in 2020 with Borussia Dortmund, RB Salzburg and Norway, Haaland is almost averaging a goal a game and becomes the first Norwegian to win this prestigious award for up-and-coming youngsters.

Barcelona’s 18-year-old forward Ansu Fati came second in the overall voting and earned the most votes in the online poll that makes up part of the final results.

Sandro Tonali, meanwhile, is the highest ranked Italian as the AC Milan player came 13th in the overall standings and Verona striker Asia Bragonzi won the Golden Girl prize.
