Inter Miami have been dealt a blow ahead of their first-ever appearance in the MLS playoffs, as the Higuain brothers – Gonzalo and Federico – have both tested positive for COVID-19.

The club part-owned by David Beckham are set to take on Nashville in the early hours of Saturday morning (03:00 CET), with this being a play-in match that will determine which club continues in the playoffs.

On Thursday night, Inter Miami reported three positive cases of coronavirus. Then, on Friday morning, the Miami Herald confirmed that, as well as the Higuain brothers, the other player to test positive was Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.

Inter Miami coach Diego Alonso may be without three key players, but he will have Rodolfo Pizarro at his disposal.
