Keane warns Lampard why Chelsea won’t wait much longer before sack

Roy Keane has warned Frank Lampard not to expect any patience from his Chelsea superiors as he faces more pressure.

Chelsea suffered their fourth defeat in six games on Sunday as Manchester City punished them with a 3-1 reverse.

The result has put Lampard’s future in the spotlight again. One source has even claimed his position as manager is “under serious threat”.

There have been rumours that the club are already considering potential replacements for the 42-year-old.

Lampard represented Chelsea with great quality as a player, but that may not be enough to gain any sympathy from his superiors if their poor form continues.

With his job at risk, Sky Sports pundit Keane has told Lampard he is under “huge pressure” and doubts he will be given time by Chelsea.

“I didn’t realise the word ‘patience’ exists at Chelsea, particularly for managers,” said Keane. “I don’t think Frank is going to get that much time.

“There is huge pressure this year because of the money they have spent.

“Chelsea don’t give managers time. It’s in their DNA and history.”

Lampard up against top competition

Keane continued by comparing Lampard’s situation to some of his opposite numbers at rival clubs.

For example, Jurgen Klopp was shown patience by Liverpool and it paid off, while Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho, Everton’s Carlo Ancelotti and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola have built up strong reputations over time.

“He’s new to it. He’s 42 years of age. Klopp came from Dortmund and won big prizes over there.

“He’s up against all these managers – Ancelotti, Mourinho, Guardiola. These guys have got CVs behind them. He won’t get the time Klopp got [at Liverpool].”
