Klopp: I don’t know what Liverpool can do in January

Premier League The Reds have been hit by injuries

Liverpool’s two first-choice centre-backs Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have been ruled out for most of the 2020/21 season due to serious injuries, but Jurgen Klopp is unsure whether the Reds will try to sign players to cover for them in the January transfer market.

With right-back Trent-Alexander Arnold also sidelined due to injury, left-back Andrew Robertson will be the only first-choice defender to start in Liverpool’s upcoming game against Leicester City on Sunday evening.

“I don’t know what we can do in January to be honest, I have no idea,” Klopp said at the press conference prior the game at Anfield. We look for solutions, look at the transfer market, that is clear of course. But at the moment we have the situation we have.

“We have talented players here who are young, aged 18, 19 and 23 years old. Then we have more experienced players. So, we will see. We have midfielders, not at the moment but hopefully in a couple of weeks, who can play in more defensive roles as well. These are the solutions we have at the moment, but I have no idea what we can do and if we can do something in January. “For the time being, we are fine. We use the boys we have.”
