Primeira Liga Santa Clara vs Pacos de Ferreira
Portuguese football will have a game played in front of supporters in its next round of fixtures.
Santa Clara and Pacos de Ferreira will be played at the Estadio de Sao Miguel in the Azores, will have fans in the stands.
Liga Portugal announced in a statement that the decision was made after an agreement was reached with the health authorities in the Azores, after a decree on February 12 allowed sporting events with up to one third of the capacity in attendance.
The Portuguese mainland is still unable to have fans in stadiums, though the Azores and Madeira have more favourable conditions in regards to the pandemic.
Two Santa Clara games at the beginning of the season had fans present, as did two Portuguese national team matches – one against Spain – though things took a backwards step again in November.
Away fans will not be permitted.
