Gasol has stated multiple times that he still hopes to represent Spain one last time on the national stage.

He last played in the NBA last season, where he played 27 games for the San Antonio Spurs and three games for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 40-year-old has not played since May 2019 due to a stress fracture in his left foot.

“This pandemic, along with all the bad that has brought us, is giving me a little more room to rehabilitate the foot and the progression is being positive,” Gasol said.

Gasol also commented on the rumors about he and his brother Marc leaving the NBA to sign with Barcelona.

“Marc and me at Barca? I am surprised by the impact and journey of unverified information,” Gasol said, calling the reports “fake news.”
