Vinicius is still only 20 years old, but has already lived quite a life.
Already he has played 89 matches for Real Madrid and he has been a worldwide star for some time.
Here, we take a look at some of the stories about Vinicius that you may not know.
His idol is Neymar and Vinicius has often been compared to the PSG forward.
However, Vinicius has always admired Ronaldo Nazario too and used to watch videos of the Fenomeno on his way to matches.
Ronaldo also admires Vinicius and was there at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on the day of his presentation.
When he moved from Flamengo to Real Madrid, Vinicius brought two close friends – Menegate and Wesley – with him and they live together.
“We were watching an interview he did on television and he suddenly said he was bringing us to Spain, but we had no idea!” Wesley has recalled.
When he made his debut with Flamengo’s first team at the age of 16, Vinicius bought 100 tickets for friends and family for the match against Atletico Mineiro.
It was a special day and 30,000 fans at the Maracana chanted his name.
As he first arrived at Real Madrid, Vinicius stayed at Valdebebas and tried to make a good first impressive at training.
“I thought that I would never be able to play here!” he has recalled, discussing the quality he witnessed in those first sessions.
Casemiro and Marcelo, who also arrived at Real Madrid as teenagers, helped their fellow Brazilian to settle in.
When Vinicius was preparing to move to Europe, he had the chance to sign for Barcelona or Real Madrid.
One of his agents remembers asking Vinicius what he wanted to do.
“Let’s go to the best in the world, let’s go to Real!” was the reply.
The winger is from Sao Goncalo, one of the humblest and most dangerous neighbourhoods of Rio de Janeiro.
“I tried to stay around good people and to play football,” the player has said of his upbringing.
It was a difficult childhood, especially when his father had to go to Sao Paulo for work.
While he made his name with Flamengo, Vinicius’ first team was Canto del Rio.
Although he had offers from Flamengo for trials, he played for Canto del Rio at first because it was easier to get to.
“Then, when I was 10, I had a trial with Flamengo,” he recalled.
“I went to live with my uncle Ulyses from Monday to Friday because he lives closer to the training centre.”
Keen to make it at the very top level of football, Vinicius has been following a strict fitness and nutrition plan for the past year and a half, designed by Thiago Lobo.
He has a chef at home who prepares all his meals, Daniel Vera.
“There are things I never used to eat, but I’ve got to do this,” the player has explained.
