Real Madrid – La Liga: Zidane might not travel for Osasuna match after close contact tests positive for COVID-19

Real Madrid – La Liga Waiting for the results of a PCR test

Zinedine Zidane didn’t take Real Madrid training on Thursday, following a positive COVID-19 case from somebody close to him.

The French coach has already tested negative for coronavirus in an antigens test, but must wait for the results of a PCR test to come through.

According to La Sexta, that result can be expected later this Thursday night.

Even if Zidane is negative, though, LaLiga’s protocols might prevent him from coaching Real Madrid away at Osasuna on Saturday night.

Even if there’s a negative test, another one might be needed three days later. It also depends on when the most recent contact was between Zidane and the contact who has tested positive.

If Zidane can’t take charge of the team then it would be David Bettoni who’d oversee proceedings at El Sadar.

In any case, Real Madrid plan to travel on Friday at 19:00 CET to Pamplona, bringing forward their journey because of the adverse weather that has hit Spain.

If the game can’t go ahead as expected at 21:00 CET on Saturday then it could be played on Sunday from 12:00 CET onwards.
