Real Sociedad vs Barcelona Did not train on Wednesday
Lionel Messi will not play in Barcelona’s Supercopa de Espana semi-final against Real Sociedad on Wednesday night due to some discomfort.
The 33-year-old did not take part in Barcelona’s light training session on Wednesday morning, which immediately set off the alarms.
Messi hopes to play in Sunday’s Supercopa final against either Real Madrid or Athletic Club, should the Catalans advance past La Real.
It was during last weekend’s 4-0 win away at Granada that Messi began to really notice this discomfort in the back of his thigh, which caused him to ask Ronald Koeman if he could be brought off. He tried to run it off to start with but was the pain remained, so he was replaced midway through the second half.
